Another winter X Games has come and gone, and incase you were too busy snowboarding to watch them, here's a run down of what you missed. Shaun White beat out Kevin Pearce in a last minute superpipe showdown, winning by one point (91.66 to 90.66) making him the first person ever to win back to back superpipe golds. Third place went to Antti Autti, fourth was Eli Teter, followed by Mason Aguirre, Steve Fisher, Andy Finch, and Louie Vito in eighth place. But that wasn't Shaun's only gold of the games. (Surprising? No.) He also took first in slopestyle, giving him a record number of slopestyle golds, and record number of overall gold medals. He also got the highest score in X Games slopestyle history. Second place slopestyle went to Scotty Lago, and the bronze went to Mikkel Bang. How did the other's fare? In order from fourth to eighth: Chas Guldemond, Peetu Piiroinen, Andreas Wiig, Tim Humphries, and Jussi Oksanen. They say "Go big or go home" and Travis Rice certainly was not going home after the Big Air comp. He threw his signature double backflip 1080, winning over the crowd. This year judging was done through text messages from the audience rather than traditional judges. Spectators voted Rice the winner, beating out Torstein Horgmo's clean switch backside 1260. What about the ladies? They threw down harder then ever, and fell harder too. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that this was the first year the women's prize purse was the same amount as the guys (about time eh??!), but the girls were going big. Really big. So big that Gretchen Bleiler had to sit out her 3rd run, calling it quits after a nasty fall in the pipe landing on the lip, scorpioning down the tranny, and smacking her head in the flats. Kelly Clark was going so big, she kept crashing too. But Torah Bright managed to keep it together and take the women's superpipe gold. Torah's winning run was backside 360, switch backside 720, mctwist, air to fakie to cab 720. She was the only girl to bust out a switch backside 720. Kelly Clark took the silver, and Hannah Teter left with bronze. As for slopestyle, Jenny Jones took gold. Who's the fastest of them all? The boarder-cross gold medalists were Lindsey Jacobellis and Nate Holland. Speaking of fast, we here at Arkade can't believe the games are already over! And if you really have been sitting on your couch watching them all weekend, grab your shred stick and get out there!! There's freshie's to be had. You know you can count on us to keep you updated.
